Every rate on this site comes from one public source: NYC Open Data, "Open Parking and Camera Violations" (dataset nc67-uf89) — over 150 million records, published and updated daily by the City of New York.
How the rates are computed
We read the violation_status field of every record.
"Decided hearings" = records whose status is HEARING HELD-GUILTY, HEARING HELD-GUILTY REDUCTION, or HEARING HELD-NOT GUILTY.
Dismissed outright = NOT GUILTY ÷ decided. Dismissed or reduced = (NOT GUILTY + GUILTY REDUCTION) ÷ decided.
No entity (violation type or borough) is published with fewer than 1,000 decided hearings.
Current snapshot computed: 2026-08-31. We re-run the computation regularly; the date on each page is real.
Past outcomes don't predict any individual case; rates describe the dataset, nothing more.
Blank-status records (paid without hearing, pending, etc.) are excluded from rate denominators by design.
Borough figures merge the dataset's multiple county codes (e.g. K/BK/Kings = Brooklyn).
There is a person behind this page, and it is me. If anything here is wrong, out of date, or reads like it was written by a machine that has never been ticketed, email me — when I change something I say so on the page. One person reads that mail and answers it; expect a reply within a few days. Whatever you decide about your ticket, disputing it is free at nyc.gov — Dispute a ticket, and you never need us, or anyone, to do it for you.
