The word covers three unrelated files, and DMV sorts its own by the ticket in your hand (dmv.ny.gov, traffic tickets in New York State, checked September 22, 2026). DMV says its Traffic Violations Bureau adjudicates all non-criminal traffic violation tickets issued in the five boroughs and handles none of the parking, red light camera or speed camera tickets (dmv.ny.gov, checked September 22, 2026). The city holds those. OATH holds summonses from city enforcement agencies and says plainly that it is the city's own administrative law court and not part of the state court system (nyc.gov, OATH Hearings Division, checked September 22, 2026).
Work from the paper, not from the word. A ticket headed Traffic Violations Bureau is the state's and is answered at DMV. A ticket on the windshield or a camera notice in the mail is the city's, sits on the plate, and is searchable. A summons naming a city agency and a hearing date is OATH's. Nothing on this site is a substitute for the ticket in your hand, and every row in the table above links the official door rather than a middleman.
