A Department of Buildings violation attaches to a building or a lot, so it is searched by address or by building identification number, not by plate. Nothing on this site will find one: our file is the city's parking and camera violations.

The department splits what it issues into two things, and they are searched and answered differently. A DOB violation is a notice against the property that stays on the record until it is certified corrected. An OATH summons is a charge with a hearing date and a penalty attached. OATH is the city's central independent administrative law court and is not part of the state court system, and its Hearings Division is where summonses from Buildings are heard (nyc.gov, OATH Hearings Division, checked September 22, 2026). You do not need a lawyer there, and OATH says so itself.
