Before you pay anyone, it is worth knowing what the two hearing systems say you actually need.
We are not lawyers, we do not refer you to one, and we take no cut of anything. A moving violation written in the five boroughs is heard by the state bureau, where an attorney may question the officer and may file an appeal for you. A parking or camera ticket is heard by the city, free, and is searchable by plate here.

At a state bureau hearing, DMV describes the attorney's role rather than requiring one: the judge hears sworn testimony from the police officer, and then you or your attorney may ask the officer questions. On appeals it says an attorney may help file the appeal on your behalf (dmv.ny.gov, plead to or pay a TVB ticket, checked September 22, 2026). Neither sentence says you must be represented.
At the city's own administrative court the position is put the other way round. OATH says you do not need a lawyer to represent you at its hearings, and it runs walk-in Help Centers at every Hearings Division location for people who want to understand a city summons before answering it (nyc.gov, OATH, checked September 22, 2026).
We do not file for you, we do not contact any agency for you, and we do not sell a referral to anybody who does. Everything measured on this site is published free.
